In no case shall the stop for loading and unloading of materials exceed thirty (30) minutes.(b)The driver of a vehicle may stop temporarily at a place marked as a freight curb loading zone for the purpose of, and while actually engaged in loading or unloading passengers when such stopping does not interfere with any motor vehicle used for the transportation of materials which is waiting to enter or about to enter such zone. Full Breakdown
County Code Sec. 23-20.3 limits standing in a marked freight curb loading zone to loading or unloading materials while the zone's posted hours are in effect, capping any single stop at thirty minutes. A driver may also stop briefly there to load or unload passengers, but only if it does not block a delivery vehicle waiting to use the zone. Per Sec. 23-20.10, this rule applies only in unincorporated Broward; Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines and Coral Springs enforce their own municipal loading-zone codes.
Violations & Fines
Standing beyond 30 minutes or using the zone for a non-loading purpose draws a $25 fine under Sec. 23-20.8, due within 10 days before a $12 late penalty applies.
