Myrtle Beach Code Sec. 12-90 prohibits standing or parking a vehicle on any roadway or street space for camping, sleeping, lodging or taking up residence in a camper, van, bus or motor vehicle, and for storage or dead storage lasting more than 24 hours. The city council may authorize temporary use only as a special event. Sign-posted blocks may also prohibit parking during designated hours (Sec. 12-85). Metered and residential-decal beachfront areas run their own overnight rules. In the unincorporated county there is no general overnight parking ban, but state abandoned-vehicle limits (unattended over seven days on private property, 72 hours on public) still reach long-term street parking.
