Washoe County has no blanket overnight on-street parking ban countywide, but during a declared red winter enforcement period it is unlawful to stop, park or leave a vehicle standing on any public road or right-of-way within a designated snow area. Posted county restrictions and the RV-occupancy limits also apply overnight.
There is no general county ordinance banning overnight parking on all unincorporated streets, but WCC 70.425 makes it unlawful during a red designated winter enforcement period to leave any vehicle standing on a public highway, road, path or right-of-way within a designated snow area, so snow can be cleared. Vehicles must still comply with posted restrictions (WCC 70.410) and cannot be abandoned overnight on the roadway (NRS 487.281). Overnight sleeping in an RV on private property is limited to the temporary-occupancy rules of WCC 110.310.35. Reno and Sparks have separate overnight rules.
Snow-area parking during a red period and other Chapter 70 violations are misdemeanors punishable under WCC 125.050 (WCC 70.600); vehicles blocking snow removal may be cited and towed.
