Yakima, WA Parking Rules: Preferential Parking Districts (2026)

Residential parking permits for the central business district may be issued by the Yakima city director of finance and budget or her/his designee. Such permits shall apply to the area bounded by the center line of 6th Street on the east; the center line of Spruce Street on the south; the west curb line of 6th Avenue on the west; and the north curb line of Lincoln Avenue on the north less the area described as the core business district in YMC § 9.10.030. The Yakima city director of finance and budget or her/his designee has the authority to define a designated parking area for an issued residential parking permit.

B. Written Application. Permits may be issued by the director of finance and budget or her/his designee to a resident of the area described in subsection A of this section upon application of such resident to the director of finance and budget or her/his designee. Such application shall contain the following information:

(1) Name, address, and telephone number of the applicant together with proof of residency at such address, such as a copy of applicant’s lease, utility bill, or other documentation accepted at the discretion of the Yakima city director of finance and budget or her/his designee;

(2) Make, model, and year of applicant’s passenger motor vehicle or pickup truck, which shall not exceed eight thousand pounds in gross weight, which is registered to the applicant and for which a permit is sought;
