In unincorporated Yuba County, recreational vehicles, trailers and boats may not be parked or stored in the public right-of-way. Development Code Section 11.25.120 keeps RVs out of the required front yard and street-side setback (driveways excepted) but allows them in a driveway, side yard or rear yard.
For the unincorporated area, RV, trailer and boat parking is split between two parts of the Yuba County Ordinance Code. On public streets, the county's Code Enforcement Division states that recreational vehicles, trailers and boats may not be parked or stored in the public right-of-way, and no vehicle, including motor homes, travel trailers and boat trailers, may be stored on a street or alley for more than 72 consecutive hours under Section 9.10.530. On private property, Development Code Section 11.25.120 (Parking and storage of recreational vehicles) bars parking or storing an RV, trailer or boat in a required front yard or street-side setback area, excluding driveways, but permits storage in a driveway, side yard or rear yard. Parking within the public right-of-way is allowed only for loading or unloading, not to exceed 72 hours before or after a trip. An RV may be used to accommodate visitors for no more than one week within any consecutive six-month period, must be fully self-contained, and may not be parked in the public right-of-way or run power cords across it. Living in an RV or travel trailer on a parcel is prohibited and enforced by Code Enforcement.
An RV, trailer or boat stored in the public right-of-way, or left on a street or alley beyond 72 hours, can receive a 72-hour warning tag and then be towed at the owner's expense. Storing an RV in a required front yard or street-side setback, or living in an RV on a parcel, is a code-enforcement violation handled by the Yuba County Code Enforcement Division.
