Englewood requires boats and recreational vehicles in residential districts to be stored inside a garage or carport, or screened in a rear yard.
Englewood's zoning code restricts where residents may store recreational vehicles, boats, trailers, and campers. In residential districts, RVs and boats may only be parked, stored, or left standing within an enclosed garage or carport screened on at least three sides. Outdoor storage is permitted only in the rear yard, and must be hidden from neighbors and the street by evergreen plantings or a solid fence at least five feet high. Front-yard and side-yard RV parking is not permitted in residential zones.
Storing a boat or RV in a driveway, front yard, or unscreened side yard violates Englewood zoning. Owners typically receive a written notice from the zoning officer and must relocate or screen the vehicle. Continued violations may result in municipal court summonses with fines up to $1,250 per offense under New Jersey municipal penalty limits.
