Horry County has no blanket ban on keeping an operable, licensed RV, boat or trailer on your own private lot in the unincorporated county. But a junked, wrecked or unregistered recreation vehicle visible from a street or neighbor must be removed, enclosed or screened. Cities add stricter yard-storage rules.
In unincorporated Horry County the Junk, Debris and Common Nuisance Ordinance is the controlling rule for recreational vehicles. It does not prohibit storing a road-ready, currently registered RV, boat trailer or camper on your property. It does target vehicles that are dilapidated, scrapped, or lack current tags: those count as junked and must be removed, placed in an enclosed building, or screened from view. One junked vehicle may sit in the rear yard only if entirely concealed by a canvas cover. On public streets, Myrtle Beach separately bans storing campers and RVs for lodging or dead storage over 24 hours. Incorporated cities impose their own zoning limits on yard storage of major recreational equipment.
County junk-vehicle violations are misdemeanors: first offense $200-$500 and up to 30 days jail, or 40 hours community service; repeat offenses carry higher fines and mandatory jail.
