In Henrico's residential districts, one travel, utility, or boat trailer may be parked as an accessory use only in a rear yard, side yard, carport, or garage. It cannot sit in the front yard or be lived in.
Because Henrico County has no incorporated towns, the County Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 24) governs recreational-vehicle and trailer parking countywide. Section 24-102(2) permits one travel, utility, and/or boat trailer as an accessory use to a home, but only in the rear yard, side yard, carport, or garage on the same lot. The trailer may not be occupied for living or business purposes, its wheels or transporting devices may not be removed except for repairs, and it may not be connected to utilities, the ground, or any structure in a way that prevents ready removal. Front-yard and right-of-way storage is prohibited. Trucks and commercial trailers over 10,000 pounds are separately barred by Section 24-96.
Zoning violations are enforced by the Division of Community Maintenance; owners get a compliance notice, and continued violations can bring civil penalties or misdemeanor prosecution under Chapter 24.
