It shall be unlawful to place any operable motor vehicle, boat, or trailer-type vehicle on any residential property, or to keep, store or allow any such vehicle to remain on a residential property except (1) on an established driveway or (2) enclosed in a legal accessory building.

Savannah Code Sec. 8-1003 governs where residents may keep operable boats, RVs and trailer-type vehicles: on an established driveway, enclosed in a legal accessory building, parallel within five feet of a driveway on the side-yard side, or in a screened side/rear yard. Inoperable boats and RVs may only be stored enclosed. In unincorporated Chatham County (Sec. 12-301), a motor home, trailer coach or trailer exceeding 22 feet or 10,000 pounds may not be parked on any lot in a residential subdivision with a restrictive covenant. Rules differ by city; Tybee Island and Pooler set their own.
