Kenton County, KY Parking Rules: Snow Removal Parking Rules (2026)

12 of the Kenton County Code lets the County Judge/Executive's office declare a snow emergency after consulting the County Police Department, County Public Works Department, County Emergency Management Agency, and its own office, upon the occurrence of snow, sleet, or freezing rain. Once declared, major media outlets, other governmental jurisdictions, and school district authorities in the county must be notified by the most expedient method practicable. The code sets three declared levels: Level One (hazardous, blowing/drifting snow, roads may be icy; cautious driving advised), Level Two (hazardous with blowing and drifting snow and icy roads; only necessary travel advised, residents urged to contact employers about reporting to work), and Level Three (roadways restricted to emergency personnel, work travel, provisions, medical supplies or treatment, and private snow removal operations; essential travel only, with violators subject to prosecution).

12(C) is the operative parking rule: during a declared snow emergency where snowfall accumulation is two inches or greater, no vehicle may be parked and no person or entity may park or permit a vehicle to be parked on any public road right-of-way. 12(D) authorizes the County Public Works Department, at its discretion or as ordered by the Judge/Executive, to assist in clearing non-county or state-owned roadways during the emergency.
