Summary

Kenton County bars parking within 38 feet of a street-intersection center line, seven feet of a mailbox near a driveway, or 15 feet of a fire hydrant on any county-controlled roadway. Vehicles must also face the direction of traffic flow, and cul-de-sac parking must clear five feet of the curve.

These county ordinances apply to unincorporated areas of Kenton County. Incorporated cities within the county may have their own rules that take precedence over county-level regulations.

(A) It shall be a violation for any person, firm, or corporation operating or being responsible for the operation of any automobile, truck, or other vehicle to park on a roadway or permit the vehicle to be parked or left standing on a roadway so that the nearest part of the vehicle is less than 38 feet from the center line from any street intersection, or so that the nearest part of the vehicle is less than seven feet from a mailbox, either side of any intersection of any driveway that intersects any street or public way of the County, or so that the nearest part of the vehicle is less than 15 feet to any fire hydrant. (B) It shall be a violation for any person, firm, or corporation which parks or leaves standing any automobile or other vehicle to park or leave the vehicle standing in such a manner that the vehicle is facing in a direction other than the direction of traffic flow on the side of the street on which the vehicle is parked or left standing.

Full Breakdown

04). 06(A) sets three separate clearance distances: no part of a parked vehicle may sit closer than 38 feet from the center line of a street intersection, closer than seven feet to a mailbox where a driveway meets a street or public way, or closer than 15 feet to a fire hydrant. 06(B) makes it a violation to park or leave a vehicle standing facing a direction other than the flow of traffic on that side of the street, the county's wrong-way parking rule. 06(C) adds a five-foot buffer from the beginning point of curvature in any cul-de-sac or turnaround.

05 separately makes it a violation to park in any location the Fiscal Court has designated as a prohibited parking area. 08 bars parking within 50 feet of an intersection with a state or federal highway. These rules apply only in the unincorporated area under county road authority; incorporated cities within Kenton County enforce their own separate parking codes.

Violations & Fines

Violations of §§ 70.04 through 70.08 and 70.10 through 70.11 each carry a flat $20 fine under § 70.99(C). Paying within 72 hours of citation earns a $5 credit, cutting the fine to $15. Each day a violation continues counts as a separate offense under § 70.99(H).
