Bonita Springs, FL Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

The Bonita Springs City Council adopted the Parking Ordinance as Article II of Chapter 40. Sec. 40-20 defines parking as the standing of a vehicle on a street, occupied or not, other than temporarily to load, unload, or receive or discharge passengers. Sec. 40-21(2) sets the clearances for standing or parking on any street: within five feet of the end of a driveway radius or driveway edge where the vehicle blocks ingress or egress, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, and within 30 feet upon the approach to a flashing signal, yield sign, stop sign or traffic control signal.

Within 20 feet of a fire station driveway entrance, and within 75 feet of it on the opposite side of the street, parking is barred once official signs are installed. Standing in any designated fire lane is barred outright. Sec. 40-21(1) adds flat bans on stopping on a sidewalk, within an intersection, on a crosswalk, on a bridge, on railroad tracks, and on the roadway side of a vehicle already stopped at the curb. It also bars stopping beside a street excavation or obstruction when that would leave less than two lanes, meaning one ten-foot lane in each direction on a two-way street.

Under Sec. 40-21(3), parking within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing is barred unless the public works department sets a different distance. Sec. 40-22(a) governs alignment: on a two-way roadway the right-hand wheels must sit parallel to and within 12 inches of the right-hand curb or edge, and on a one-way roadway either the right-hand or the left wheels must sit within 12 inches of the matching curb. Sec. 40-23 separately bars leaving a vehicle on a public street for more than 24 hours after written notice when its principal purpose is display for sale, hire or rental. The public works department posts the no parking signs under Sec. 40-25, and they must conform to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
