Celina, TX Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

§ 12.04.006 of the Celina Code of Ordinances lists places where stopping, standing or parking a vehicle is an offense. All of those acts are named, so a brief stop in a listed place is covered along with a parked car. The section excuses a stop that is necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic.

Fire hydrants. Item (2) bars stopping within 15 feet of a fire hydrant.

Intersections. Item (8) bars parking on a public street or roadway within 30 feet of any intersection of two or more roadways within the city. Celina sets the larger buffer at intersections, 30 feet, against 15 feet at hydrants.

Roadway width. Item (7) bars parking in such a manner as to leave available less than ten feet in width of the roadway open for the free movement of vehicular traffic. This test depends on the street as well as the vehicle. A spot that clears the hydrant and intersection distances can still be an offense under item (7) if less than 10 feet of roadway stays open.

Other listed places. § 12.04.006 also covers parking in a marked traffic lane, in front of hotel or theater entrances, and where the vehicle blocks a mailbox or trash pickup.

Overnight storage. § 12.04.005(a)(7) bars parking any motor vehicle on a street for storage from sundown to sunup, with limited exceptions such as temporarily disabled vehicles. The window is set by sundown and sunup, not by clock times.

Large vehicles. Celina also bans overnight street parking in commercial districts for vehicles over 23 feet long, 8 feet wide, or 10 feet tall. The measurements are joined by or, so exceeding any of them is enough.
