Duluth, MN Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 33-82(a) lists the seventeen places where no person may stop, stand or park a vehicle in the City of Duluth: on a sidewalk, in front of a public or private driveway, within an intersection, within ten feet of a fire hydrant, on a crosswalk, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, within 30 feet of a flashing beacon or stop sign, within seven feet of an alley or driveway entrance, within 50 feet of a railroad crossing, near fire station driveways, alongside street excavations that would obstruct traffic, double-parked on the roadway side of another parked vehicle, on bridges or in tunnels where signed, wherever official signs prohibit stopping, between curb and property lines, in fire lanes, and within a front yard area as defined by § 50-1.77.

Subsection (b) separately bars moving someone else's vehicle into a prohibited space or an unlawful distance from the curb, subsection (c) prohibits parking a vehicle on a highway right-of-way for the purpose of residing in it, and subsection (d) requires drivers to move when ordered by a peace officer directing traffic. The section traces to the 1950 code (Ord. No. 6838) and was last amended by Ord. No. 10576 in 2018. Duluth police enforce the section, and Minnesota Statutes § 169.34 provides the parallel state authority the city footnotes.
