Kendall County, IL Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Kendall County Code Section 34-2 gives the County Engineer authority to identify locations on County highways, roads under the County's jurisdiction rather than municipal or township streets, where parking, stopping, or standing a vehicle is dangerous to other road users or would unduly interfere with free traffic movement. The Engineer cannot act alone: proposed 'no parking, stopping, or standing' designations go to the County Board's Highway Committee for approval, and the ordinance authorizes that Committee to act on the Board's behalf for such requests. Only after the Committee approves a designation does the County Engineer install signs marking the restricted area in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Once those signs are up, the restriction takes legal effect: Section 34-2(e) states there shall be no parking, stopping, or standing of vehicles in the signed area. This is a location-by-location, sign-driven system rather than a blanket County-wide parking code, so whether a given stretch of county road allows roadside parking depends on whether the Highway Committee has designated and signed it as restricted.
