On Maple Grove streets, no vehicle may park continuously for more than four hours, and overnight parking is banned everywhere from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. year round. The city council may post shorter limited-parking zones (5 minutes up to 3 hours). Posted No Parking signs and time limits must be obeyed.
Maple Grove's parking ordinance sets a general rule that parking is prohibited for more than four hours continuously on all city streets, with exceptions where posted otherwise. A separate, broader restriction prohibits any vehicle from parking on a public street or highway in the city between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., inclusive, every day of the year. The city council may, by resolution, establish limited-parking zones of five, ten, fifteen, thirty minutes, or one, two or three hours, as well as fire lanes, in specific locations identified by signs. Drivers must obey all posted No Parking signs and time-limit signs. To prevent gaming the limits, moving a vehicle less than one block during a limited-parking period does not reset the time, and it is unlawful to obliterate, erase or remove any chalk mark or notice an officer places on a tire or vehicle. These restrictions apply every day, including weekends and holidays. Maple Grove also prohibits parking a vehicle on a street principally to display it for sale, and prohibits washing, greasing or repairing a vehicle on the street except for emergency repairs. Vehicles parked in violation may be ticketed or towed at the owner's expense.
Exceeding the four-hour limit, parking during the 2 a.m.-6 a.m. overnight ban, ignoring posted time-limit or No Parking signs, displaying a vehicle for sale on the street, or tampering with an officer's tire mark are all violations subject to citation and possible towing.
