Street parking in unincorporated Orange County is governed by OCCO Title 6, Division 4 (Traffic Ordinances) and California Vehicle Code provisions. Vehicles may not be parked on the same public street location for more than 72 consecutive hours. The OC Sheriff enforces parking regulations.
Under California Vehicle Code Β§22651(k), vehicles may not be parked on any public street for more than 72 consecutive hours. OCCO Title 6, Division 4 adopts state vehicle code provisions and adds county-specific regulations for unincorporated areas. OCCO Β§6-4-603 addresses vehicle violations including parking in prohibited areas, obstructing traffic, and abandonment. Vehicles parked beyond 72 hours receive a warning notice; if not moved, they may be cited and towed at the owner's expense. Street parking is prohibited within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, in front of driveways, on sidewalks, and in marked no-parking zones. The OC Sheriff's Department handles parking enforcement in unincorporated communities. Residents can report parking violations through the OC Sheriff non-emergency line at 714-647-7000. Vehicles with expired registration parked on public streets may be cited or towed under CVC Β§4000(a).
