Fresno County, CA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

08 (Stopping, Standing or Parking), lists six specific conditions under which stopping or parking on any public highway in the unincorporated county is prohibited: within thirty feet of an official traffic control device's approach, inside a median strip, traffic island, or similar divider, on the left side of a one-way roadway of a divided highway without a permitting sign, for vehicle repair work exceeding twenty-four hours from the time a car became disabled, to display a vehicle for sale, and for more than seventy-two consecutive hours in the same location.

The seventy-two-hour rule is the one county residents run into most: once a car has sat in the same curb spot for three full days, any peace officer may have it removed to a public garage under the California Vehicle Code. on non-Sunday, non-holiday days, and blue is reserved for vehicles displaying a disabled-person or disabled-veteran placard or plate. Painting a curb without the director's authorization is itself a violation. Because Fresno County has no incorporated street grid of its own outside these unincorporated pockets, these standing and parking rules apply only on county-maintained roads; streets inside Fresno, Clovis, Sanger, Reedley, Selma, and Coalinga are enforced under those cities' own municipal codes, not this chapter.
