Anaheim's nuisance ordinance targets blight conditions including discarded items, inoperable vehicles, debris, and unsightly property. Code Enforcement investigates complaints and issues correction notices.
Anaheim's nuisance ordinance and zoning codes protect the residential atmosphere of neighborhoods and prevent unsafe and unsightly property use. The goal is to eliminate blight and improve the appearance of business and residential areas. Blight conditions include: broken or discarded furniture, household items, lumber, trash, debris, refrigerators or other appliances, inoperable vehicles, rubbish, boxes, machinery or parts, yard waste, and junk of any kind visible from public view. Property owners are responsible for maintaining their premises in a clean and safe condition. Code Enforcement investigates complaints through the AnaheimAnytime system (online or 714-765-5158). After notice, property owners receive a correction period. Repeated violations may result in escalating fines. The city may abate severe conditions and assess costs to the property.
Blight condition: correction notice with deadline. Failure to correct: escalating fines. Severe blight: city abatement with cost recovery lien.
