Full Breakdown
Under Clark County Code Chapter 11.06, an authorized code enforcement inspector who finds a dangerous structure, debris, or noxious weeds on unincorporated property sends written notice by certified mail describing the condition and a deadline, at least 30 days, to abate it. Owners may request a hearing before the board's designee within 10 business days. If the owner misses the deadline, civil penalties accrue under Section 11.06.070: $100 a day for the first 10 days, $500 a day for the next 20, then $1,000 a day, capped at the greater of $10,000 or three times the abatement cost, and the county can perform the work itself and assess the expense against the property.
Violations & Fines
Ignoring an abatement notice draws escalating civil penalties, $100 to $1,000 per day, plus the county can abate the nuisance itself and place a special assessment lien on the property.
