Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Code Title 8 bans property blight like accumulated junk, broken windows, dead landscaping, and abandoned vehicles. Code Enforcement issues notices and citations.
Rancho Cucamonga defines and prohibits public nuisance and blight conditions under Municipal Code Title 8, which lists specific violations including accumulated trash or debris on private property, broken or boarded-up windows, peeling paint on building exteriors, dead or overgrown landscaping visible from the public right-of-way, inoperative or abandoned vehicles stored on residential property outside fully enclosed garages, and graffiti not removed within a reasonable time. Code Enforcement officers respond to complaints filed online or by phone, conduct site inspections, and when violations are confirmed issue a written Notice and Order to Abate that typically gives the property owner 10 to 30 days to correct the violation depending on severity. Failure to abate results in administrative citations starting at around 100 dollars for the first violation and escalating to 500 dollars or more per day of continued noncompliance under the Municipal Code's administrative citation chapter. In severe cases the City may seek abatement through summary action and place a lien on the property for the cost of work performed. Tenants and neighbors can report suspected blight through the Rancho Cucamonga Code Enforcement portal or by calling City Hall.
