Dublin property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from public sidewalks adjacent to their property within 24 hours after a snowfall ends. The city does not plow residential sidewalks.
Under Dublin Code, owners and occupants of property abutting a public sidewalk must remove snow and ice within 24 hours after precipitation ends. For ice that cannot be removed, sand or ice melt must be applied to reduce slip hazard. This rule is critical because Dublin has extensive sidewalk and shared-use path networks used year-round by pedestrians, joggers, and students walking to Dublin City Schools. The city clears public multi-use paths along major roads but not residential sidewalks. Liability for slip-and-fall injuries on uncleared sidewalks can attach to the property owner.
Failure to clear after notice may result in city abatement (snow removal contracted) with cost billed to owner, plus civil fine typically 50-150 dollars.
