The owner, occupant or person in charge of any parcel or lot which fronts upon or abuts any sidewalk shall keep said sidewalk clear of all snow and ice. In the event of snow accumulating on said sidewalk due to natural means and/or by any other means, said sidewalks shall be cleared of all accumulated snow and/or ice within 24 hours from the time the snow ceases to accumulate on said sidewalk. Sidewalks are to be kept clear of snow and ice to a minimum of five feet in width.

The owner, occupant, or person in charge of any parcel abutting a sidewalk must keep it clear of snow and ice, and clear any accumulation within 24 hours of when the snow stops falling, maintaining at least five feet of clear width. If ice can't be removed, it must be sanded or salted for safe travel. Pushing or depositing snow from a driveway or private property back onto a public street, alley, or sidewalk is also barred. If an owner doesn't comply, the director of public works or a police officer can order or perform the removal.

Each 24-hour period of noncompliance is a separate offense punishable under the penalty in § 1-12. The village can also clear the snow itself and bill the owner, adding any unpaid amount to the property tax roll after 30 days.
