Doral regulates residential trash bin placement through its property maintenance and code enforcement standards. The city contracts with a waste hauler for residential solid waste, recyclable, and bulk waste collection services. Residents in single-family homes receive standardized rolling carts for trash and recycling. Bins may be placed at the curb or designated collection point no earlier than 6:00 PM the evening before the scheduled collection day. Bins must be retrieved and returned to their storage location within 12 hours after collection. When not placed for collection, trash bins must be stored out of public view, typically in a garage, behind a fence, or on the side of the home screened from street view. Bins left at the curb outside of collection periods are subject to Code Enforcement citations. Overflowing bins or loose trash bags placed next to bins may result in additional citations. Bins must be maintained in good condition and the city or waste hauler will replace damaged bins upon request. Bulk items and yard waste have separate collection schedules and placement requirements. Commercial properties must provide enclosed dumpster pads screened from public view with masonry walls and gates. HOA communities may impose additional trash bin storage and placement standards beyond the city's requirements, including designated bin storage areas and specific screening requirements.
Leaving bins at the curb outside collection periods may result in Code Enforcement warnings followed by fines starting at $50 per occurrence. Repeated violations may escalate to $250 per day through the Special Magistrate. Overflowing or improperly maintained bins may result in additional citations.
