Doral regulates abandoned and inoperable vehicles on both public streets and private property. Vehicles without current registration, flat tires, or in non-operable condition are subject to notice, citation, and towing. The city follows Florida Statute Chapter 715 for abandoned vehicle procedures.
The City of Doral defines abandoned vehicles as those left on public streets for more than the permitted time period, or inoperable vehicles on private property visible from public view. Under the Code of Ordinances and Florida Statute Chapter 715, vehicles are considered abandoned if they lack current registration, have flat tires, missing parts, or are otherwise inoperable. On public streets, vehicles must be moved within 72 hours. Code Compliance officers can tag vehicles that appear abandoned and provide notice to the owner. If not corrected, the vehicle may be towed at the owner's expense. On private property, inoperable vehicles may not be stored in front yards or driveways where visible from the public right-of-way unless fully enclosed in a garage. Vehicles on blocks, lacking engines or transmissions, or with expired tags are subject to code violation notices. HOA communities may have additional restrictions on vehicle storage and appearance standards. Florida law requires a 10-day written notice before towing from private property.
Abandoned vehicle violations are enforced by Code Compliance at (305) 593-6740 and Doral Police at (305) 593-6699. Vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense after proper notice. Fines apply for maintaining inoperable vehicles on private property.
