Doral, FL Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

The City of Doral permits installation of electric vehicle charging stations at residential properties. Under Florida Statute 163.04, HOAs and condominium associations cannot prohibit homeowners from installing EV charging equipment in their parking areas, though they may require compliance with architectural standards. Level 1 charging (standard 120V outlet) generally does not require a permit. Level 2 charger installation (240V) requires a building permit from the Doral Building Department, as it involves electrical work that must be inspected. Charger installations must comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the Florida Building Code. Running charging cables across sidewalks or public rights-of-way is prohibited for safety reasons. Doral has public EV charging stations at several city facilities and encourages private development of charging infrastructure.
