The City of Doral protects trees through its Land Development Code and tree preservation ordinance. Removal of protected trees (generally those with a trunk diameter of 4 inches or more measured at 4.5 feet above ground, DBH) requires a tree removal permit from the city's Planning and Zoning Department. Specimen trees, which are trees of significant size, age, or species value, receive enhanced protection and may require City Council approval for removal.
