Doral's Land Development Code Chapter 74, Article V establishes approved fence materials and design standards. Chain-link fencing is restricted in front yards of residential properties. Approved materials include aluminum, wrought iron, PVC/vinyl, wood, concrete block, and masonry walls. All materials must have Miami-Dade County product approval for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone.
Section 74-228 of Doral's Land Development Code addresses materials and standards for fences. In residential zoning districts, front yard fences must be constructed of decorative materials such as aluminum, wrought iron, or ornamental PVC/vinyl; chain-link is generally not permitted in front yards. Side and rear yard fences may use a broader range of materials including wood, vinyl, aluminum, and chain-link (with or without privacy slats). Masonry or concrete block walls are permitted and commonly used for perimeter boundaries. All fence materials in Doral must comply with HVHZ requirements and carry valid Miami-Dade County product approval (NOA - Notice of Acceptance) for wind resistance. Barbed wire and razor wire are prohibited in residential areas. Electric fences are generally not permitted except in limited agricultural or commercial applications. HOAs in Doral's communities frequently specify approved fence colors, styles, and material brands through architectural guidelines.
Fences built with unapproved materials may be ordered removed by Code Compliance at (305) 593-6680. Non-compliant HVHZ materials void the building permit. Contact Building Department at (305) 593-6700 for approved product lists.
