Coral Springs, FL Public Conduct: Outdoor Smoking Restrictions (2026)

Sec. 11-29(a) makes it unlawful for any person to smoke within the boundaries of any city park owned and operated by the City of Coral Springs, though the prohibition does not apply to unfiltered cigars. Sec. 11-29(d) gives the director of parks and recreation sole discretion to designate smoking areas in five named parks: Mullins Park, Cypress Park, North Community Park, Betty Stradling Park, and Sportsplex. A code compliance or law enforcement officer may issue a citation for a violation, charged as a civil infraction with a fine under Sec.

Separately, Sec. 11-28 targets underage smoking near schools: it is unlawful for anyone under twenty-one to smoke tobacco in, on, or within 1,000 feet of the real property of a public or private elementary, middle or secondary school. That section is also enforced by civil citation and fine under Sec. 1, with an alternative of fifty hours of community service or a school-approved anti-tobacco program in place of the fine where available; it exempts anyone in a moving vehicle or inside a private residence, and willfully refusing to accept and sign the citation is a separate, arrestable offense.

Both sections were most recently amended by Ordinance No. 2025-103 on June 18, 2025, and Sec. 11-29's title was changed from 'in outdoor areas in city parks' to 'within the boundaries of city parks' by Ordinance No. 2024-113 on August 7, 2024.
