The Indianapolis Smoke-Free Air Law (Revised Code Ch. 600), strengthened in 2012, bans smoking in all enclosed workplaces and public places including bars, restaurants, hotels, and the airport. Smoking is also prohibited within 8 feet of any public-place entrance, exit, window, or ventilation intake. Indy Parks bans smoking within 25 feet of playgrounds and pools, and at all youth athletic fields. IndyGo bus shelters are smoke-free. The ordinance applies to e-cigarettes and vaping. Limited exemptions exist for tobacco bars licensed before 2012, hookah lounges, cigar bars, and private residences. Marion County Public Health Department enforces with civil fines.
