Meridian, ID Public Conduct: Outdoor Smoking Restrictions (2026)

Meridian City Code section 5-1-4(U) bans lighting, using, or consuming any tobacco product or electronic smoking device in any city park, covering cigarettes, cigars, vapes, and e-cigarettes alike, using the tobacco-product and electronic-smoking-device definitions from Idaho Code section 39-5702. The one carve-out is parking lots inside city parks, where smoking remains legal. Violation of this and the other general park rules in section 5-1-4 is an infraction carrying a flat one hundred dollar fine unless the code states otherwise, enforced by peace officers, code enforcement officers, community service officers, or the Parks Director's staff under section 5-1-6. The ban reaches only city-owned park property within Meridian; it does not extend to sidewalks, streets, or private patios elsewhere in the city.
