Meridian City Code 6-3-6 sets quiet hours from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM, when public disturbance noises are unlawful. The City of Meridian regulates noise under Meridian City Code section 6-3-6, 'Noises Creating Public Disturbance.' Between the hours of 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM, it is unlawful for any person to cause, or for any person in possession of property to allow to originate from that property, sound that is a 'public disturbance noise.' The same prohibition applies at any time when the noise unreasonably disturbs or interferes with the peace, comfort, or repose of others, so the rule is not limited strictly to nighttime. The ordinance lists specific public disturbance noises, including frequent or continuous horns and sirens; repetitive motor-vehicle sounds (starting, repairing, or testing engines) in a residential district; yelling, shouting, or singing near public streets; continuous sounds from buildings such as audio equipment, instruments, or social gatherings; motor-vehicle sound systems audible more than 50 feet from the vehicle; and audio or amplification equipment audible more than 50 feet from the source. Exceptions include emergency vehicles, permitted parades and fireworks displays, railroad equipment, burglar and safety alarms, and authorized activities on public, school, or religious property. A violation of section 6-3-6 is a misdemeanor.
