Full Breakdown

Section 19.03(8) of the county's parks ordinance prohibits smoking in, or within 50 feet of, designated County park zones: playgrounds; sports fields and their seating areas; swimming areas and the fenced ground around them; and the Marathon County Sports Complex at 602 E. Kent Street. The Parks Director can also temporarily post additional no-smoking zones during Department-sponsored events or other approved events where the organizer requested a smoke-free area. The ban is limited to these posted zones, it does not make county parks smoke-free generally, and it has no reach outside county park property.

Violations & Fines

The Section 19.14 cash-deposit schedule has no line specific to smoking; violations are enforced under the county's general park-ordinance penalty provisions rather than a listed smoking forfeiture.
