Public consumption of alcohol is prohibited on Oklahoma City streets and parks except inside the Bricktown Entertainment District designated open container zone, established in 2018 to support the canal tourism corridor.
OKC Code Chapter 5 bans open containers of alcohol in public rights-of-way, parks, and parking lots. The Bricktown Open Container District, formalized after 2018 state law changes, allows pedestrians to carry drinks purchased from licensed establishments within the boundaries of E.K. Gaylord Boulevard, I-40, Lincoln Boulevard, and the BNSF rail line. Cups must be plastic, branded with the bar logo, and not exceed 16 ounces. Glass containers and outside alcohol remain prohibited. Public intoxication is a separate misdemeanor under state law regardless of district.
Open containers outside Bricktown, glass bottles inside the district, or visible intoxication result in citations, fines up to $200, and possible arrest.
