Deerfield Beach, FL Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Section 46-2 makes it unlawful to skateboard, roller skate, or let a skateboard or roller skates stand on sidewalks abutting any city beach, on beach pavilions, on city-owned tennis, basketball or similar hard-surfaced courts, and on every publicly owned or publicly dedicated parking lot in the city. The ordinance names specific lots covered: the fishing pier lot, Main Beach lot, South Beach lot, fire station lot, Cove Shopping Center lot, Palm Plaza Shopping Center lot, North Pavilion lot, and Pioneer Park lot, plus any other public lot adjacent to a city park or facility and any multi-story parking garage, public or private.

The section also reaches any other location where a sign prohibiting skateboarding or roller skating has been authorized by the city manager or a designee, giving the city power to expand no-skateboarding zones without a new ordinance. Bicycles are separately barred from the same beach-adjacent sidewalks under subsection (b), though bicycling is not restricted on other city sidewalks by this section. Subsection (c) requires the city manager to post signage giving public notice of these restrictions; the presence of a sign is part of how the rule is applied at courts and parking lots.
