Nassau County, FL Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Nassau County Code § 23½-73 sits in Article III, Recreational Parks, which § 23½-46 defines to include the county's Bryceville, Callahan, Hilliard and Yulee recreation parks and any other property the county acquires or is given and designates as a recreation area. The section flatly prohibits bikes, skates, skateboards, roller blades, all-terrain vehicles and paintball activities in those recreation areas, allowing them only in a spot the county parks and recreation department has specifically designated for that use. Section 23½-77 limits the reach of the whole article: these rules apply only to the inland recreation parks, not to the county's oceanfront (beach) parks, which are separately regulated under §§ 23½-1 through 23½-25.

Participation at any county recreation facility carries automatic acceptance of the article's requirements and any rules the recreation commission adopts by board resolution, under § 23½-47. The code does not attach a specific dollar fine to a § 23½-73 violation; instead, the recreation commission, created under Division 2 of the article, is empowered by § 23½-58(c) to hold hearings and impose sanctions, suspensions or bans for rule violations at county recreation facilities, and any unauthorized addition or change made to a park without department approval can be ordered removed at the responsible party's expense under § 23½-49.
