74 Bicycles, Skateboards and Like Vehicles governs skateboarding citywide. 010(A) makes it lawful to ride a skateboard, along with roller skates, a coaster, scooter or tricycle, on any public sidewalk or public pedestrian or bicycle path in the City of Sonoma. Subsection (B) qualifies that: riding at a speed greater than reasonable or prudent given weather, visibility, traffic or path width, or in a manner that endangers people or property, is unlawful, and a rider who encounters a pedestrian on a sidewalk should yield when reasonable.

Subsection (C) creates a flat ban in the historic downtown Plaza area, prohibiting skateboards and the other listed conveyances on the public sidewalks on both sides of First Street West and First Street East between Spain Street and Napa Street, and on Napa Street and Spain Street between First Street East and West, regardless of speed or manner. 010 is an infraction under subsection (E), and the section separately declares the prohibited riding a public nuisance, letting any peace officer retained by the city summarily seize and impound the skateboard or other conveyance used, with disposition left to the court hearing the infraction.

City personnel on duty are exempt under subsection (F). until dusk absent special city permission, bars food, drink, movable ramps or jumps, drugs, alcohol, weapons and smoking inside the fenced area, and bars bicycles, scooters and motorized or gear-driven conveyances outright as a declared public nuisance within the fence.
