Anyone working with unpackaged food, food equipment, utensils, or food-contact surfaces in Henderson must obtain a Southern Nevada Health District food handler card within 30 days of hire.
SNHD requires every employee handling food, food-contact surfaces, or single-service items in a Clark County food establishment to hold a valid Health Card. New hires have 30 days from start date to complete training and pass the test. Cards are issued for three years and must be carried or available on-site during shifts. The course covers temperature control, allergens, cross-contamination, and personal hygiene. Certified Food Protection Manager training is separate and required at the management level under FDA Food Code adoption.
Employing uncarded staff past the 30-day grace period, expired cards, or unavailable cards during inspection adds demerits and may trigger employee suspension until cured.
