Fort Wayne, IN Public Health Rules: Rodent Control (2026)

Under § 152.04(F), all structures in Fort Wayne must be kept free from insect and rodent infestation, and any infested structure must be cleared using extermination methods that will not harm human health. The owner of the structure is responsible for extermination or abatement, both inside the unit and on the premises. For single-family homes the owner or occupant shares that duty directly (§ 152.04(A)(2)(b)3), while owners of buildings with two or more units must handle pest eradication in shared and public areas themselves (§ 152.04(A)(2)(a)5). The Department of Neighborhood Code Compliance is the Enforcement Authority and can inspect on probable cause or with consent, or seek an inspection warrant under IC 36-7-9-16 if access is refused.
