Stored materials, woodpiles, and trash must sit off the ground. After complaints, the Mosquito and Vector Control Program inspects, posts notice, and may enter and abate. Plague surveillance is active in the San Bernardino Mountains and high desert near Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead, where ground squirrels and chipmunks pose elevated risks.
Failure to abate after written notice can lead to county abatement, lien on the property, and administrative fines up to 500 dollars per violation.
