Full Breakdown
Under Fulton County's nuisance abatement ordinance, the county's public officer can find a dwelling, building, or structure unfit for human habitation when conditions such as structural defects, fire hazards, lack of adequate ventilation, light, or sanitary facilities, dilapidation, disrepair, or uncleanliness endanger occupants or neighbors. The finding applies only within unincorporated Fulton County and opens a court process that can order the owner to repair, alter, or demolish the property.
Violations & Fines
An owner who ignores a court order to repair or demolish an unfit dwelling can have the county perform the work and place a lien for the cost, plus attorneys' fees and court costs, on the property.
