Fayetteville, NC Rental Property Rules: Rental Registration (2026)

Two triggers exist. Under § 14-97 an owner whose property drew three or more verified violations in the prior 12 months must register the address, owner contact details, and unit count with the development services official, post proof on site, and renew annually. Under §§ 14-101 and 14-102 the police official recalculates each property's disorder activity count every January and July; properties at or above the 90th percentile register at a mandatory meeting and sign a remedial action plan. Apartment complexes, hotels, motels, rest homes, rooming houses, and bed and breakfasts sit outside the program unless city council adds them by ordinance. Four verified violations in 12 months revokes the registration for one year (§§ 14-98, 14-100).
