Full Breakdown
Under Municipal Code Chapter 3.40, a hosting platform that displays the city's registration number, stops booking transactions within five business days of a noncompliance notice, and discloses listing details to the city is presumed compliant with the chapter. That presumption does not excuse the platform from responding to administrative subpoenas the city attorney issues to obtain listing names, addresses, length of stay and price paid. Platforms also may not collect fees for concierge, cleaning or other services tied to an unpermitted short-term rental.
Violations & Fines
Platforms that keep booking a flagged listing past the five-business-day cutoff, or ignore a subpoena, face administrative citation and a city lawsuit to compel compliance.
