Full Breakdown
The O-STR District divides Hampton into 51 STR Zones, each carrying its own maximum permit count set out in Table 9-75.1: as few as 1 permit in Coliseum Central 4 and as many as 36 in Coliseum Central 1. Short-term rentals in the same zone must sit at least 300 feet apart, measured from property boundaries outward, though two rentals may abut if that pair still meets the separation rule toward every other STR. The overlay applies on top of, and can override conflicting, underlying zoning district rules. It took effect September 1, 2024.
Violations & Fines
Once a zone hits its cap, no new short-term rental permit can be issued there; a property inside another rental's 300-foot buffer is barred from operating as an STR at all.
