Lincoln short-term rental guests must obey the city noise ordinance, and the STR law bites directly: a licensed rental hit with three or more verified complaints of noise or other disturbance in one calendar year can have its license revoked by the Building Official. Hosts are responsible for guest conduct.
There is no separate short-term rental decibel standard, but LMC 5.39.040 makes noise a license-ending issue: the Building Official may revoke a Lincoln STR license if the licensed premises is the subject of three or more verified complaints of noise or other disturbance in one calendar year. Beyond that, guests are bound by Lincoln's general noise regulations in the Municipal Code (Chapters 8.24 and 9.36), which restrict loud, unnecessary, and late-night sound citywide. In unincorporated Lancaster County, where the STR license does not apply, general county nuisance rules govern noise instead. Because the host holds the license, repeat disturbances by guests put the host's ability to keep operating at risk.
Three or more verified noise or disturbance complaints in a calendar year are grounds for license revocation under LMC 5.39.040. Individual noise-ordinance violations can also bring citations and fines under Lincoln's general noise code.
