Lincoln STR guests must comply with the city Noise Control Ordinance (LMC Chapter 8.24). Residential noise limits are 60 dB(A) from 7 AM to 10 PM and 50 dB(A) from 10 PM to 7 AM measured at the property line. STR hosts should provide house rules about quiet hours.
Lincoln Municipal Code Chapter 8.24 (Noise Control Ordinance) applies to all properties including short-term rentals. Noise in residential areas may not exceed 60 dB(A) between 7 AM and 10 PM, and 50 dB(A) between 10 PM and 7 AM, measured at the property line. The ordinance prohibits any loud, unnecessary, or unusual noise that disturbs the peace and quiet of a neighborhood. STR operators are expected to establish quiet hours and communicate noise rules to guests. Persistent noise complaints against an STR property could jeopardize the license. NRS 18-1758 specifically allows municipalities to regulate noise as it relates to short-term rentals. Noise complaints can be reported to Lincoln Police non-emergency at (402) 441-6000 or the Lincoln Action Center at (402) 441-7511.
