Lincoln restricts freight loading to designated conditions: vehicles 20 feet or longer may stop on angle-parking streets only to load or unload, and in congested districts large vehicles may load only in permitted alleys between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Lincoln Municipal Code 10.32.140 confines freight and large commercial vehicle loading to specific rules. A vehicle 20 feet or more in length may not stop or park on any street where angle parking is permitted except to load or unload freight; within congested districts such vehicles may stop or park only in alleys where allowed by Director regulations, and only for loading or unloading between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Semitrailers must position the tractor parallel to the curb, headed with traffic, and only during actual loading, except that vehicles may back into authorized loading docks. The Director of Transportation and Utilities designates on-street loading zones by signage.
Blocking or misusing a loading zone, or loading outside the permitted alley hours, is a parking violation subject to citation and towing.
