Blue Earth County, MN Short-Term Rentals: Short-Term Rental Parking Rules (2026)

Sec. 24-337(c) sets the parking standards that apply specifically to short-term rental units. A minimum of two off-street parking spaces must be provided for the rental unit, and those spaces must meet the size regulations in Sec. 24-310 of the county code, with parking for vehicles and trailers restricted to the designated parking spaces shown on the site plan. Public streets and rights-of-way cannot be used for parking trailers or vehicles connected to the rental. Any impervious surface limitation applicable to the property under other chapters of the code must still be met when parking areas are built or expanded.

The parking footprint has to be documented up front: Sec. 24-337(a)(1)(d) requires the initial site plan submitted with the interim use permit application to show the square footage of parking areas and driveways, and Sec. 24-337(e)(3)(c)-(d) requires the location of parking stalls and the maximum number of vehicles, recreational vehicles and trailers allowed at the property, along with where they must be parked, to be posted inside the unit for guests. Sec. 24-310's general size rule requires each off-street parking space to be at least 300 square feet including access drives, with a minimum nine-foot width and 19-foot depth.
