Full Breakdown

In Meridian's city core streetscape, the strip of sidewalk between the building face and the street furnishing zone is the 'use zone.' Placing chairs, tables, planters, barriers or other amenities there without a City of Meridian use zone encroachment permit is unlawful. The Director issues or denies the permit within five working days, permits run one year and are nontransferable, and encroachments must come out when the permit expires or is revoked.

Violations & Fines

Placing an encroachment in the use zone without a permit, or violating permit terms, is unlawful; the Director may revoke the permit and require removal.
