A governs single-tenant freestanding signs. 2 regulates freestanding signs in the City's commercial and industrial zoning districts (Neighborhood Office, Neighborhood Commercial, Commercial Business, General Commercial CG-1 and CG-2, Intensive Commercial, Downtown Commercial, Light and Heavy Industrial, and Commercial and Industrial Compatible districts) by the street classification the sign faces, per the Urban Transportation Plan. For Expressway/Freeway frontage the maximum sign area is 350 square feet and the maximum height is 65 feet, compared with 200 square feet and 40 feet on arterials and 64 square feet and 20 feet on collectors.

C sets a higher tier for multi-tenant developments of three or more tenants: an expressway/freeway-facing freestanding sign there may reach 650 square feet and 65 feet in height, with up to 10 additional feet of height allowed where the adjacent street grade is elevated, based on the difference in elevation between the property and the street. A development over 25,000 square feet gets an added freestanding sign for every 500 feet of street frontage beyond the initial 500 feet, with signs separated by at least 150 feet. Freestanding signs may not overhang or project into the public right-of-way and may not use flashing illumination. B.
